Not a Crisis or Emergency Service

The Sanctuary System, including any AI-assisted messaging feature, is not a crisis service, is not an emergency service, is not monitored in real time for signs of risk, and is not staffed by clinicians able to respond to an emergency. You must not rely on The Sanctuary System, or on any response generated by it, in a situation involving risk to life, safety, or immediate wellbeing.

UK Emergency Instructions

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 for emergency services. If you need urgent medical or mental health advice that is not immediately life-threatening, call NHS 111 and select the option for mental health support. If you are struggling to cope and want to talk to someone, you can contact Samaritans free, at any time, on 116 123, or by emailing [email protected]. You can also text “SHOUT” to 85258 to reach the Shout Crisis Text Line, a free, confidential, 24/7 text support service.

International Emergency Instructions

If you are located outside the United Kingdom, please contact your local emergency services number or a crisis helpline in your own country. Many countries operate a free, confidential crisis line similar to those listed above; if you are unsure who to contact, your local emergency number, a local hospital emergency department, or a trusted healthcare professional can help direct you to appropriate support.

Safeguarding & Vital Interests

Where information you provide through The Sanctuary System indicates a serious and immediate risk to your safety or the safety of another person, we may, where necessary and proportionate, share relevant information with emergency services or another appropriate authority, on the basis of protecting vital interests or the substantial public interest safeguarding condition described in our Privacy Policy. We are not, however, able to guarantee real-time monitoring or intervention, and the section above continues to apply.

If you are experiencing an ongoing mental health difficulty, we encourage you to seek support from a general practitioner, a qualified mental health professional, or another appropriate support organisation in your area, in addition to, and independently of, your use of The Sanctuary System.
